Between 26 March and 16 April 2026, we asked young people across NSW about their experiences of using e-bikes.
238 e-bike users between the ages of 11-17 took the survey.
E-bike usage
63% own their own e-bikes.
69% ride e-bikes daily or weekly.
Importance of e-bikes for young people
Most young people use e-bikes for travel and leisure activities (84%) or school and education (49%).
How can the NSW Government support safe e-bike use?
Young people are already taking measures to stay safe, including wearing helmets, not using phones and riding on cycle-paths.
77% of young people always wear a helment when riding. 13% sometimes wear a helmet.
Young people want more safety programs, regulation, and bike paths.
